Our Story
The Rocking R Bar has been a prominent Bozeman, Montana mainstay since the late 1940s. The iconic, red Rocking R Bar sign is a beacon in historic downtown Bozeman, and the Bar proudly serves as a popular local hangout for Montana State University students, residents, and travelers!
The R Bar is a backbone of the Bozeman community and a proud supporter of MSU athletics – a fact made evident by the Bobcat memorabilia sprinkled throughout its décor.
On March 5th, 2009, a gas explosion rocked Bozeman and destroyed a whole city block, including the Bar. (See Photo Gallery Below)…
On July 26th, 2011, the Rocking R Bar reopened its doors with a huge celebration. The community united in a show of appreciation, and the support was an overwhelming demonstration of what the establishment means to the town and its university students.
Despite its new look, the Rocking R Bar holds steadfast onto its old traditions of embracing small-town values. Whether you are a Bozeman resident or just swinging by for lunch on your way to Yellowstone National Park, you will feel right at home at the R Bar.
We hope to see you soon!
